Autonomous AI Ecommerce - A Learning Project

The Goal

I wanted to deeply understand how AI agents could power B2C ecommerce and automated content creation. Not just theory—I needed to build something real, put it in front of actual customers, and learn from what worked.

What I Built

Two live ecommerce platforms that use AI agents to handle the content creation pipeline:

Posh Tots Press - Children's educational books Color Every State - State-themed coloring books

Both platforms explore the same core idea: can AI agents reliably handle the end-to-end workflow of creating, publishing, and selling digital products?

What I Learned

AI Content Generation

• Building prompts and pipelines that produce consistent, usable content
• Quality control challenges when generating at scale
• The gap between "impressive demo" and "production-ready"

AI Image Generation

• Creating illustration pipelines with consistent visual styles
• Handling the unpredictability of generative AI
• Optimizing outputs for print specifications

Ecommerce Automation

• Integrating with Amazon's marketplace APIs
• Automated product listing and metadata generation
• Multi-region distribution challenges

The Reality Check This project taught me where AI agents excel and where they still need human oversight. The technology is powerful, but building reliable autonomous systems requires careful engineering around edge cases and quality control.

Why This Matters

These platforms are live, generating hundreds in profit each month. That real-world validation is invaluable—it's easy to build demos, but shipping products that customers actually pay for reveals the true challenges of AI-powered automation.

The lessons from this project directly inform how I approach AI integration for clients: understanding both the potential and the practical limitations.
